LOCAL INFORMATION CLICK HERE TO SEE LOCAL BUSINESSES Education NCEA Warkworth Primary School – originally Warkworth School was situated on the banks of the River Coquet on The Butts. The school was built in 1736, before this a new school building was built in around 1825 and stands alongside the present old school building. The original school, now known as The Old School House has been used as a petrol filling station and garage before being used for storage and then a dwelling. The more recent old school was closed in 1971, firstly being used as a clothing factory and then from 1980 as a private houses. The ‘new’ Warkworth School was opened in 1971 and is formally known as NCEA Warkworth Primary School. It is situated in Guilden Road on the outskirts of the village. It has recently opened a Nursery unit and takes children from 4 to 11 years of age.

James Calvert Spence College caters for pupils aged 9 – 18 years of age. There are two sites - Acklington Road (the former Coquet High School) and South Avenue, the former Amble Middle School. Some parents choose to send their children to other high schools in the local area such as: The King Edward VI School Morpeth, The Duchess Community High School Alnwick, St Benet Biscop Catholic High School Bedlington and even schools further afield in Newcastle upon Tyne.
